cool

Great concept, but the maze is too hard, even when you hold the spacebar.

Personally I would have liked other options than just playing the games, like upgrading to colored text and choosing different background music (which would probably be someone saying "different background music" over and over again)

Despite the nearly impossible maze, great game!

great music!

Haha, I was expecting something just a bit harder. What's the point of winning if it's that easy and everyone else can easily win?

Nevertheless, awesome music at the end! Is it in the audio portal? The style of music at the end reminds me of the game "You Have to Burn the Rope"

not bad!

Not a bad child's matching game. However, my biggest criticism is the lack of control in difficulty. While you claim the difficulty is easy, starting out with 16 cards is perhaps too much at first. It would have been nicer to start with 4, then move to 6, etc.

Nice selection of horses, although some pictures are very similar. Adding difficult colored borders for each different picture would also help the child make the connection as well.

Congrats on making your first game!

pretty good, but repetitive

Not bad. My biggest criticism is the controls. Playing this on a laptop is a bit difficult and taking away the mouse option would have been nice. I originally expected the controls to be similar to the classic brick-breaking games and the direction of the ball be based on where it hits the reflector shield.

Nevertheless, it was still an entertaining game. Good sound effects, but some background music would have been nice, too.

not bad!

For a first-time game, it was okay (and more than I could ever do!)

Pros:
Clear objective
Easy Controls
Fun sound effects

Cons:
No music
Player takes up too much of screen, unavoidable hits since you're so big (take away them being able to hit the balloon and it'll be fixed)
Just a bit too hard to get to the end (smaller player and more helpful boxes)

As I said, great for a first time game!

cool concept

Interesting concept, but perhaps the point could have been emphasized even more with the door right beside you and a small challenge to fall down the pit? Despite you intentionally making the game simple (and choosing great music for the ending!) I feel like you should have presented the door as something simple to get to in order to win/lose but the pit should have been more of a challenge so that you have to work to lose/win. Unless that's untrue to your original message, of course.

Either way, it gave me something to think about. Nice one.

Thanks for the actual constructive review, I'll keep it in mind.

nice

My only problem is that you must start at the beginning rather then the level you are on if you get caught!

Despite the lack of checkpoints, great art, sound, and gameplay. :)

Tough games can also be fun!

Many reviewers label this game as being ridiculously difficult and I agree with them. I like the idea of the random bomb levels and the three strike system. However, perhaps a larger time limit to answer questions or a type of hint system like on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire would make this game more enjoyable for everyone.

There's a big difference between a game being difficult AND fun and a game only being difficult. With a bit more tweaking this hard quiz game can become something that's less controversial between us reviewers!

it was ok

Yes, the controls are difficult to handle and the physics of the game make it frustrating to play...but thanks for creating this with intent for a good cause. Having friends and family members with cancer, I realize this is a growing problem that definitely needs more funding for research.

My biggest critique of the game is that you do not advertise the cause enough during gameplay and that you only have him running tot the 10K event and a few billboards around you. A bit more variation in the background would have helped.

thanks!

Even coloring the flats used to be difficult for me in photoshop since I could never fill up all of the white space! The Select>Modify>Expand has saved me so much time!

The only thing I still have trouble is if I start to layer different colors and shadowing and I color outside of the lines it takes me so long to fix it!

Wavechan responds:

:D Yay! I'm glad. Flats really really save time. Are you hitting preserve transparency when you're shadowing and coloring different layers, or are the flats going past the lines...?
