Interesting concept, poor execution

I like the idea of a sonic racing game, but why call it a race when you are not up against anyone else? I didn't really see a clear goal to this game, other than trying to get a high lap time. The music was good, but I wasn't too fond of the layout of the tracks. I stopped playing on lap 3 on the first course before I got too frustrated, then I picked the easiest course (the last one) and finished it. The number of laps a bit too high - these courses are long, 3 or 5 laps will do.

Other than the music, I really did enjoy the controls you had set up...the ease of movement and if you hit the walls they aimed you back in the right direction was nice.

I'd like to see you make a race/dodge game in a first-person perspective, like the special stages in Sonic 2 or maybe a "mario kart" style layout. I feel you would be quite successful at that.

Very good!

Simple, fast, enjoyable game! I was stuck for a bit on the star puzzle on which mirror to begin on, but figured it out eventually. For that section I wish there was a way to know if the path of light was correct or not to save us some time, this being done if the color of light changed or you heard a "correct sound" like the heart puzzle pieces.

Also, it took me a while to figure out that the light from the shield was hurting the main boss. I was too focused on jumping and dodging his spells to notice the slight drain of his health bar. Some other indication that light was hurting him would have been helpful, whether it be a sizzling noise or some show of physical damage.

Other than those two very minor details (along with me wanting to use the arrow keys rather than the wasd keys), I love the music, animation, and story you've created. Here's hoping that you'll continue the series and make a 3rd installment! :)

Great!

I highly enjoyed part 1 and was excited to see that you posted a part 2! Great story, I think I liked this story just slightly better than part 1.

I had to start the game again at one point since I left the mall exit open and didn't see the unwanted results until much later in the game. Thankfully, it didn't take me too long to get back to that point. Please consider when death is inevitable a better "try again" point or an option such as "go back to <outside of mall>"

Also, near the end at the roof I chose to go back home with a group of survivors. After that option, the writing made me feel like I was still alone despite them heading to my same location.

Other than those two details, the story, voice, and backgrounds were great! Keep up the good work and I hope to see a part 3!

wonderful game

This is the first game in a long time where it is challenging but not frustrating. The constant add-ons and unique map layout kept this fun for me. Looking at the controls, I was skeptical at first but it worked, although there were a few times I pressed c instead of x. I did wish there was a way to save a game...I had to leave in the middle of the first time I played it and had to start from scratch again later. I ended up finishing in 21:33. Congrats on making such an enjoyable game!

I'd like to know who did the video game music. It was very subtle to the game and catchy!

music, gameplay, leveling, all great!

Excellent! After playing the original a while back, this one was so addicting I did it all in one session!

One add-on I wish I would have seen is to level up the speed you are able to collect the money. Once the zombies are so strong and the levels fly by so quickly there is less opportunity to collect money. Leveling to expand the grabbing pixels helps, but speed could be better.

The special zombies were great, especially the MJ one!

Close to perfect!

Close to a perfect game! Wonderful sound, animation, and original gameplay!

My only con of this game is the boss battle. Yes, you have already edited the boss's pattern to make it more consistent, but it is still difficult when the boss flies twice as fast as you can run. When I was ready to go to the rune, the boss got me when I was so close to the goal. This really changes the feeling of the game from relaxing and an easy game for both old and young people to just a bit too frustrating and difficult. I suggest slow down the boss, have more fairyflies appear after 3 minutes into the battle to start to give the player some advantage, or when the boss get you, only take away 1 fairyfly instead of them all.

Nevertheless, a 5/5 game all the way!

Nice!

Great game! I finally beat all three difficulty settings...it got to the point where I started to put post-it notes on my laptop screen so I knew where to click! Any other game I probably would have stopped playing, but yours was one of the few that had the perfect balance between being fun yet challenging.

I took one point off only because I am not able to submit my score (tried several browsers and they all freeze when I go to the score screen) and you could have gone for a more satisfying ending other than just a standard fireworks screen.

The gameplay was awesome...I'll be sure to be on the lookout for future games by you!

nice!

Pros:
Great background music and sound effects!
Cute robots!
Simple scoring system

Cons:
Very fast game, so fast it takes at least 2 rounds to get to know how each robot explodes. Maybe make this into a "story mode" and make a little introductory movie of each new robot for that round?
Very difficult to time it so that every robot explodes, maybe consider coming up with a version that you can upgrade to a bigger explosion or you must explode so many robots to continue?

Overall enjoyable, fun, and addicting! Congrats in making a GREAT game in only 3 days...how many hours did you put into this?

HybridMind responds:

Thanks for your review. Yeah, I have on my possible todo list things like upgrades and the like. I was intentionally limiting my scope on this project though. Save it for the sequel right? ;) I'm glad you found it enjoyable, fun, and addicting. I spent 3 FULL days on it.. so I likely have around 40 hours in it. Thanks for asking too!

nice!

Nice game! Great music and decent animation with more variety than I expected. The only thing that could've been better would be to put a checkpoint in after the catapult scene so if you died after you didn't have to go all the way back to the beginning.

Should we expect more of this knight in your future games? :)

OOGIDIBA responds:

yeah they'll be back for sure

great!

It's great to see that you got all of the kinks out of the beta version!
I love that you kept the same music and style of the characters, as well as surprising us with combining similar gameplay from The Visitor.

My biggest criticism is the two games involving the pegs and some tediousness felt during some repetition in some puzzles. Having a more prominent indication when the peg is in the right spot would have helped. Also, getting the bees in one puzzle and bringing back the right colored liquid in the other was repetitive and both had an extra screen in the middle of doing these tasks.

Other than that, congrats on getting this game out and continuing the wonderful plot! I can't help but wonder how many chapters you will have in this series...I hope it is a good bit, you talent is making great puzzles!
